In A Swiftly Tilting Planet, Meg and Charles Wallace are much older. Meg is married to Calvin in this book, and they are going to have a baby. Calvin is in London at a conference, and his mother comes to Meg's parents' house for Thanksgiving. Weird things happen with the weather, and Mrs. O'Keef remembers a rune that she said Charles needs to know. I am not sure why yet, but it has something to do with stopping a nuclear war.

Yes, Calvin was a friend in the first book. Meg and Calvin were in high school then, but now they are grown up and Charles Wallace is in high school.
